Leaving on a jet plane.... dunno when I'll be back again....

Hubs is officially back at boot camp. He has 6 more weeks and then he graduates and will officially be a military police officer. I am just trying to keep busy and keep my mind on something... ANYTHING so that I don't go insane. We hope that they will allow him to fly home to Cali first before heading back to Colorado, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high. I got to speak to Hubs today and he wasn't doing too good. I agree with his feelings there.... the first day away is the hardest. We will get through this though. I LOVE MY HUBBIN!

In the meantime, I think I did a good job keeping myself occupied this afternoon. I made my first purse organizer (ACU of course!) that came out pretty decent. I also made a Rockabilly Studded dress for our dog, Harley. Zach went to the fabric store with me and designed the dress himself. :0) I can't wait to show him how it turned out. I know he will love seeing his little girl wearing her dress when he takes her for walks. I think I will make her Americana dress tomorrow.

Up and running....

I have finally got my Etsy account back up. Ok, it's not at full speed yet, but still up and running none the less. I have reworked my shop plan and changed things around a bit from my original goal a few years back. I am now focusing on Military Pride!

After Hubs joined up, I found myself yearning for all things ACU. I just had to surround myself with the beautiful subdued digital camo that my soldier was wearing. I became a self proclaimed ACU addict! I nearly fainted from all the excitement when I found out that Scentsy put out an ACU Army burner! Well, nothing has changed. I find myself browsing online for hours to find any random household item that I need that comes in this pattern.

After feeling deflated a bit when I couldn't find an ACU Christmas tree skirt, I decided to make it myself. My lovely in-laws had bought me my first sewing machine the Christmas before and I had yet to figure out how to thread it but once... with a lot of trouble I might add. So, I went out an got myself an hour one-on-one lesson on the basics of how to use my specific machine. I came home and went for it. Not with the Christmas tree skirt though, but with a dress for our family dog, Harley! I had no pattern to work with but I did have a favorite dress that I had recently bought for her. How hard could copying be? I am the queen of copy! I was right, thankfully. The dress came out amazing! I had several flops, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. I am oh so proud of my work.

I have fallen in love with sewing and making things. So far I have made (all ACU remember haha) my Christmas tree skirt, dog dress, apron and several different cell phone / iPhone cozies (still working on). I have found my nitch and I am loving it.

My items can be found at.... Heartmade Creations

Countdown to Hubbin!!!

It's official.... only ten days left until Hubbin gets home! I am so excited. Or, maybe I should say SEW excited. That is the subject of this blog entry. Finally, after a year of owning my sewing machine, I went to a lesson and learned all of the basics of how my machine works. One lesson was all it took and I came home and attempted my first project, an ACU Christmas tree skirt. I sewed some of the decorative stitching on the wrong side, but thankfully it gets covered by presents anyways. :0)  It came out great and I was so excited and I decided to try another project today.

Today, I made an ACU dog dress for Harley. I picked up some lace trim, ribbon and a D ring and just went for it. I had a few mishaps and my stitching is not perfectly straight, but I am SO proud of my work especially since this is only my second time sewing anything! I can't wait to show her new dress to Daddy. I know he will love her support. :0)

Who knew....

Who knew that snail mail could be so fun. It really does feel so personal and makes you feel special. I love those days, such as today, where I receive several letters from Hubs at one time. Today, I received his OFFICIAL photos. He looks so young and handsome.... ok, maybe a little deer in the headlights, but really.... after months of not seeing that face, who's complaining right? haha I love him so much and I can't wait til Dec 19th to have him in my arms again! Let the count down begin!!!!

Extra Extra... Read All About It....

So much has been going on so I haven't been writing much. Scottie and I are hanging in here as best as we can just waiting for the day when Zach gets to come home for the holidays. Scott's doing great in school and gymnastics, we got all the Christmas shopping done, I survived Black Friday... so far so good.

Congrats to Hubbin/Daddy Zach for graduating BAC. He can now proudly wear his beret. He has a severely bruised ankle (thought it was broken) and has been working his butt off on it for over a month. He has officially started AIT and will graduate in February.

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving.... I couldn't upload some as they wouldn't stay upright. :0/
We made our own Cheesy Onion Bacon Rolls for Thanksgiving this year.
Also, we made homemade Pumpkin and Cheesecake Tarts that were amazingly good.
