Back Blows, Abdominal Thrusts and Making out with Dummies.....

Yea, I've had my fair share of kissing dummies but this weekend takes the cake. This dummy was the worst of all of them. Of course, it's a bit difficult to kiss back when you have no pulse........... 0_o  So, it's a good thing that I now know....

CPR!!!

Woohoo. I did my CPR class at the Azusa Cal National Guard Armory on Saturday and passed with flying colors. I had to sit around and wait 20 minutes for every one else to finish the test. I missed two questions, but they were technical things we never even went over in class (which the teacher admitted to... we were a laid back class of only 10 people).

Without further ado, please welcome Mr. Dummy himself........

And because you always wanna be a smart girl when kissing your dummies.....

Leaps and Bounds.....

I have been so amazed with my child's growth this year. I'm not talking height and weight here, but emotional maturity and control. He has done such incredible changes and I couldn't be more excited and proud of him. Today, he did something that truly shocked me. I have been waiting for years since the day he could speak for him to do this. HE SHARD HIS FEELINGS! For those of you who know my child, this is such a big deal for him. He came up to me after school and asked me if I was interested in hearing him share his feelings. HECK YES I AM INTERESTED! We sat on the couch and had a 20 minute conversation and guess what? It was a two way conversation... not a "mom lectures and kid rolls eyes and pretend to listen" type of deal.

My son, you are such a gift from Heaven and I am so grateful that I was chosen to be your mom. You complete me in a way that I never imagined could exist. You are growing so fast and I wish you could be my baby forever. You hold my heart in those hands of yours. You give me life and purpose and I thank you.

The spoiling of Sandra Jean....

I am having so much designing little dresses for my niece, Sandra (my bestie's daughter). Today, my sister gave me a shirt she no longer wears and I feel head over heels for the print. It is very Shabby Chic. I didn't have a pattern or instructions, but I just went with it. Of course, I could nit pick all of my mistakes, but for now I am just going to enjoy how far I have come in only a few months of sewing here and there. :0)  Someday, I hope my skills will be able to catch up with my imagination! (The front of the dress is the back of the shirt and vice versa)

My first piece of clothing.....

(doggie dresses don't count haha)

I have been working on a shirt dress for my Bestie's daughter and I am only missing trim. I ran out of enough for the circumference of the dress. I am so impatient to share my work though. I am so excited to have finished my first real piece of clothing. My favorite part are the straps. They are just too cute and fun to make! My stitching still needs work, but the overall product is great for my first try. I will probably end up adding ribbon or some embellishment onto it. :0)

EEP I LOVE THESE STRAPS!

Front of dress - Angle of photo makes dress a bit squatty looking.... but it's not, I promise :0)

Back of dress - Buttons are usable. :0)

Homefront Artistry Team Monday Meetup #1!

The 2nd and 4th (sometimes 5th) Monday of every month, we post a few questions on the Homefront Team Blog that you can take, post and answer on your blogs and THEN LINK BACK to the original post so that we all can come around and visit.

This adventure is OPEN TO EVERYONE!  You DO NOT have to be a part of the Homefront Team to participate.  So please visit the Homefront Team Blog.

Here are my answers to the Monday Meetup questions!
1 -  Are you a night owl or early bird?
Though I do love the feeling of waking up just as the sun is coming up, I don't do that often. That's because I am a total night owl and don't usually get to sleep until midnight at the earliest. I would like to say that I am an insomniac, but that wouldn't be true. I can take a nap like nobodies business.... I LOVE sleeping. I just tend to get all my creative ideas and alone "me" time after my son goes to bed. I sit online looking at all the crafts that I want to do and time flies by too quickly.

2 -  Share one thing on your bucket list.
I have not made a bucket list, but if I had to quickly think of something.... I would love to travel outside of the country or maybe explore a mystic place where I could be one with nature and live off the land for a little while.... find my roots.  :0)

3 -  What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
While this is a trait that has also caused me much grief in my life, I do appreciate my empathy, intuition and compassion. I have a highly attuned 6th sense and I feel things on a very deep level. This happens to make me a highly sensitive person though. :0/

There you have it!  Now you can go to the Homefront Team Blog and post your own response!

EEP!

I just made my first sale today and my first customer wasn't even family or friend. I am so excited and I hope they enjoy the item as much as I enjoyed making it. The item was from my Patriotic Home line and so 10% of the purchase price will be equally donated between the following charities. Donations will be given approximately three times a year...... once a larger amount has been accumulated. :0)

Where's the Bon-Bons?

I was up, again, in the middle of the night and nothing was on TV of course. While I was flipping through the channels, I saw a description with CRAFT in the title so I immediately stopped and go figure, it ended up being HSN. So, there I was, a lonely wife in my late twenties... sitting on the couch in the middle of the night with my insomnia and raggedy old sweat pants.... and I stop on the shopping network! I just had to laugh at myself at the sight I must have been. All I was missing was a tub of Bon-Bons.

Anywho, to make a long story short, I found my Christmas present! Hubs owed me my present since I wanted to wait for a good deal... as well as put some Christmas money towards it as well (cause Hubs says that I must spend my money on myself and not the bills this year lol). The deal was great and I am so excited. Without further ado.... introducing......

On the note of my sewing endeavors, here is the latest doggie harness dress that I made.White Cherry Eyelet Doggie Harness Dress. My next projects will be finishing up Harley's green polka dot dress and making her Valentine's dress and Love Rocks dress (designed by my sister). I love walking her around town with her little dresses. It is much funner then a regular ol' collar. :0)

Muy Caliente....

Scott designed a beautiful "Spanish Dancer" dress for Harley today. The photos show the fabric sorta of pinky, but it is actually just plain ol' RED. I wish that would have came out better in the picture. Harley thinks the photo makes her butt look big...... but hey, her butt is big. haha

Leaving on a jet plane.... dunno when I'll be back again....

Hubs is officially back at boot camp. He has 6 more weeks and then he graduates and will officially be a military police officer. I am just trying to keep busy and keep my mind on something... ANYTHING so that I don't go insane. We hope that they will allow him to fly home to Cali first before heading back to Colorado, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high. I got to speak to Hubs today and he wasn't doing too good. I agree with his feelings there.... the first day away is the hardest. We will get through this though. I LOVE MY HUBBIN!

In the meantime, I think I did a good job keeping myself occupied this afternoon. I made my first purse organizer (ACU of course!) that came out pretty decent. I also made a Rockabilly Studded dress for our dog, Harley. Zach went to the fabric store with me and designed the dress himself. :0) I can't wait to show him how it turned out. I know he will love seeing his little girl wearing her dress when he takes her for walks. I think I will make her Americana dress tomorrow.
